The Village Voice
copperhead probes the psychological bonds that form during violence and imagines victim, aggressor and place as three strands of a braid, forever interwoven by shared experience. Bessie Award winner Karen Sherman turns her singular choreographic voice to this project in which time, intention, physical sensation and power are turned on their heads. Featuring performance-powerhouses Joanna Furnans, Emily Johnson, Justin Jones, Hannah Kramer, Anna Marie Shogren, Morgan Thorson and Max Wirsing along with Sherman,
copperhead forges a larger-than-life intimacy and disquieting meditation on the social experience of personal trauma.
copperhead is supported by the Jerome Foundation and the McKnight Foundation.
