Kats D Fukasawa has been a dancer/performer/choreographer in the Twin Cities since 1994. Throughout his career, he has danced tap with Joe Chvala and Flying Foot Forum, Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance form) with Ragamala Music and Dancer Theater, contemporary with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company (London, England) and jazz-modern-Bharatanatyam fusion with his own company, Paneer Project.

Since 2005, he has been studying Subbody Butoh. Subbody (sub-conscious body) Butoh was created by Mr. Rhizome Lee, a Japanese Butoh practitioner who opened Subbody Butoh School Himalaya in Dharamsala, India in 2005. The Subbody method incorporates Butoh, Noh (Japanese classical dance/theater), meditation, Taoism, theoretical physics, contemporary dance, contact improvisation, and the psychological works of C. G. Jung and Arnold Mindell. Through a series of physical and mental exercises, the Subbody method guides practitioners into the subconscious realm where they travel beyond conscious boundaries and face their deepest memories, fears and traumas. From this depth of personal experience, each practitioner creates his/her own Butoh dance. Kats began his study of Subbody Butoh through online tutorage from Mr. Lee. In 2007, he was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant to attended Subbody Butoh School Himalaya for six months. Through this experience, he discovered many new things about himself, both as an artist and as an individual and he found new ground upon which he continues his journey.

Kats currently performs and teaches Subbody Butoh in Minneapolis and abroad. In his free time, he studies and gives Shiatsu massage and performs as a notorious folk singer, Gus the Chimney Sweep.
