“...this year’s generation does, indeed, look
promising. In fact, if the SCREEN/the THING is
any indication, Jones has arrived.”

Justin Jones’ choreography has been
described by critics as “flawlessly
articulate, innovative and surprisingly
subtle.” The 2007 McKnight Fellowship
recipient draws inspiration from the
working methods of the Dadaists, the
world of contemporary science and the
rhythms of popular culture. For this
compelling night of dance, comprised
of two half-evening works, Jones looks
out to the vastness of the universe and
inwards at the cosmos of the human
brain. Probing the myths, history
and innovations of popular science,
the SCREEN/the THING was created
in response to the captivating and bizarre
worlds of cosmology, quantum mechanics and string
theory. To complete the evening, Jones attempts to mirror
the complexities of the mind in a new work, RadioBrain
(working title), investigating the processes of memory
creation and decay.
