The Southern Theater is pleased to announce the 2011 round of the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Choreographers and Dancers. This program is made possible by the generous support of The McKnight Foundation. The McKnight Foundation also funds artist fellowship programs in ceramic arts, literature, music composition, music performance, photography, playwriting and theater arts, screenwriting and filmmaking, and visual arts, administered respectively by the Northern Clay Center, Southern Theater, The Loft, American Composers Forum, MacPhail Center for the Arts, mnartists.org, Playwrights' Center, Independent Feature Project/North, and Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

The McKnight Artist Fellowships for Dancers and Choreographers annually awards three $25,000 fellowships to dancers and three $25,000 fellowships to choreographers who reside in Minnesota. Fellowships provide recognition and financial support for mid-career choreographers and dancers. The program is designed to award artists whose work is of exceptional artist merit, who have created a substantial body of work over a period of time, and are at a career stage that is beyond emerging.
