Sunday, April 2, 12-3 p.m.

Want to learn how to make original theatre? In this 3-hour intensive workshop, participants will learn fundamental techniques for devising daring performances using variations in the timing of seemingly simple yet consequential actions and the distances between performers, audience members, and their surroundings.

Led by Animal Engine Co-Artistic Directors and master teachers Carrie Brown and Karim Muasher, who have taught physical theatre and devising around the world at such institutions as the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Upright Citizens Brigade, and Haymarket Theatre. Their company, founded in New York City and recently moved to Minneapolis, has created and toured its award winning brand of deceptively minimalist, physically expressive theatre internationally for the past eight years. Notable collaborations include working with immersive theatre company Punchdrunk on "Masque of the Red Death" at Battersea Arts Centre, daredevil clown Bello Nock on his Broadway show “Bellomania” at the New Victory Theatre, and physical comedian Martin Gindick on his award winning solo show “Wingman” at the United Solo Theatre Festival. They present their original "Darlings," a retelling of the Peter Pan story from the parents' perspective, at The Southern Theater March 30-April 1.

Join us for this 3-hour intensive workshop on Sunday, April 2, starting at 12 p.m. Participation limited to 10 students.
