Creatures of Loss emerges from a deep, physical exploration of grief, weaving together personal narrative, cultural insights, and the neuroscience of bereavement. Choreographed by Elayna Waxse in collaboration with the dancers, this debut performance of Elayna Waxse Movement Project is shaped by experiences of personal loss and Waxse’s work as a mental health therapist supporting others through their grief.
Featuring live music by Joe Strachan and Gabriel Rodreick (“Freaque”) and immersive media design by Jason Brickman, Creatures of Loss invites audiences to confront grief's ferocity, messiness, and metamorphic power.
Elayna Waxse is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
