Falsies: A showcase of compositions by May Klug continues the exciting '23-'24 Performance Partnership Program!

Performance Date:
August 30th, 7:30pm (doors 6:30pm, house 7:00pm)

Performance Length: 90 minutes with 15 minute intermission

A showcase of electroacoustic compositions by Minneapolis-based composer/performer and synthesist May Klug. May’s performances combine the techniques of electroacoustic music with the visual aesthetics and theater of queer performance art, high-femme fashion, and pop. She primarily works with keyboards, flute, voice, and electronics, particularly feedback. Her work explores electronic instruments as complex intersections of networks of technological development, natural phenomena, and artistic expression. Her compositions employ improvisation, glitches, feedback, and a gentle, exploratory approach to electronics. Her practice is deeply influenced by her time studying with experimental composers including Alvin Lucier and Paula Matthusen. She has performed in Minneapolis with 113 Composers Collective and Zeitgeist Ensemble, along with regularly gigging in the Twin Cities DIY scene and producing underground queer events featuring multimedia art, film screenings, and music in the Dykes 2 Watch Out 4 collective.
