Inspired by ancient Japanese legends of mermaids whose tears crystallize into luminous pearls, Perfume of the Pearl is a new evening-length dance work by April Sellers Dance Collective. Blending folklore, political commentary, and queer performance traditions, the work invites audiences into a richly layered world of movement, imagery, and storytelling. Through themes of transformation, collective resistance, and joy, Perfume of the Pearl celebrates the power of community, self-expression, and resilience as acts of survival.
