Seeking Light

Seeking Light, the debut presentation of Branches Contemporary Dance, is an almost-hour of contemporary dance loosely inspired by the concept of phototropism: a directional response which allows a plant to grow towards or away from light. As humans, our experiences of pain and loss, the work we do to shape the world, and the ways we love and show up for one another, also give us the opportunity to grow directionally. We can move towards or away from what makes self, other, and community thrive. We can choose to seek light. 

Branches Contemporary Dance is the newest addition to Out on a Limb Dance Theater Company and School, a Saint Paul-based non-profit dedicated to the ideal that dance should be within everyone’s reach. Branches is led by choreographer Mykala Micek, and Seeking Light will feature dancers Carina Anderson, Olivia Brockman, Gabbi Christianson, Caitlyn Enright, Hallie Johnson, Hannah Kienast, Kathryn Kuebler, Calla McDermott, Hannah Larsen, Courtney Peters, Amanda Peterson, Karissa Tricas.
