Rhythmically Speaking is proud to be the local voice celebrating the depth and breadth of jazz dance: come experience the vibrancy and connectedness yourself at The Cohort 2024!
The Cohort program was built to share different perspectives on and via the vibrancy of jazz and American social dance ideas. This year’s production – the sixth installment of The Cohort and our sixteenth annual summer show overall – features a cohort of excellent artists and art:
Eboné Amos (Visiting Artist - Clarksville, TN)
Erinn Liebhard (RS Artistic & Executive Director)
Jake Nehrbass (Local Artist and Company Dancer)
Maurice Watson (Visiting Artist - Greensboro, NC)
RS Company Dancers: Nieya Amezquita, Doug Hooker, Amy Jones, Sara Karimi, Kelli Miles, Erinn Liebhard, Javan Mngrezzo, Jake Nehrbass, Kathleen Pender and Betsy Schaefer Roob.
Eboné Amos will revisit her work Welcome to Soulsville, which celebrates the music, dances, and soul stirrers of the 1950s and 1960s, and Erinn Liebhard has created a new work entitled Follow My Lead that explores the personal and cultural ideas embedded within historical dance step instructional diagrams. Jake Nehrbass has created a funk-inspired tap/jazz piece titled Sonic Leather, and Maurice Watson has restaging his work Chasing the (1) = One, which explores individuality and artistic expression in one’s social community.
We hope you’ll come experience these four vibrant works that represent a wide range of what jazz dance can be. See you at the show!
